Pappu charu


Ingredients:

kandi pappu(tuvaram dal): 100 gms
tomotos: 2
onion: small 6
drumstick: 6 pcs
carrot: small size
ladies finger: 2
sorakaya: small piece
tamarind paste: 3 tsp
chillies: 3
sugar: 1 tsp
salt: 2 tsp
turmaric powder: 1/4 tsp
red chilli powder: 11/2 tsp
coriander leaves
for popu:
ghee: 2 tsp
mustard seeds: 1/4 tsp
red chillies: 2
cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
urud dal: 1/2tsp
chana dal: 1/2 tsp
crushed garlic flakes: 5
curry leaves for taste: few

Method:

Soak dal in a cooker in 2cups of water for half an hour. Cook up to three whistles and stop.
Mash dal thoroughly and add one glass of water and kept aside.

Take another vessel with two glasses of water add all choped vegetables, (onions with out
choping), turmeric powder, salt, sugar, tamarind paste, redchilly powder and curry leaves. Cook with medium flame for 30 mts. Add cooked dal and mix well.

Heat ghee in a big pan. Add mustard seeds and wait to splutter. Add red chillies, chana
dal,urud dal,cumin seeds, crushed garlic flakes and few curry leaves and stir up to dal comes
to light brownish.

Add all dal sauce to popu. cook with lowflame for 10mts. Add coriander leaves.

May add small quantity of potato,dondakaya,capsicum,cucumber etc.,
